The human being seems to carry two souls within himself. One who is oriented towards evolution and development, and another who obstructs and holds him back.
We can detect both of these tendencies in ourselves, as well as the battle which is waged between them. One part says I will! Another part says I will not! What the first says, is not always realisable. What the second says, is not always obstructing. It calls us to reconsider for example, whether or not something might be too much all at once. Between striving forwards and staying behind, lies a field of tension, uncertainty and anxiety.
"Without tension, no arrow flies", wrote Peter Ashley.
This is where development of capabilities occurs. From tension comes impulse. We are impelled forwards. This means out!
Out of the familiar, the known, the habitual, and out there… into the unknown.
